WestCOP: The Next Chapter

What's Next for WestCOP
WestCOP Community Services Realignment
Continuing to Serve Our Communities
WestCOP is undergoing a realignment of its community-based services as the organization transitions away from its role as a Community Action Agency.
While WestCOP will no longer operate Community Action Programs, our commitment to helping individuals and families throughout the communities we serve remains strong. WestCOP will continue providing essential supportive services that address critical needs, including food assistance and other resources that help individuals and families maintain stability and well-being.
As part of this realignment, WestCOP will continue operating community service locations in:
- Eastchester
- Tarrytown
- White Plains
- New Rochelle
- Greenburgh
- Putnam County
- Rockland County
These locations will continue to provide essential supportive services, including food banks and other assistance designed to help residents meet basic needs.
This transition represents a change in how WestCOP delivers services, but not a change in our commitment to the communities we serve. For decades, WestCOP has worked to connect individuals and families with resources and opportunities that strengthen our communities. We will continue that work by focusing our resources on essential services where they are needed most.
WestCOP remains committed to helping people and changing lives.
CAP Programs
WestCOP: A New Chapter, A Continuing Commitment
As WestCOP approaches its 61st year of service, we are embracing a new chapter in our organization's history. In response to a changing nonprofit landscape and evolving community needs, WestCOP is restructuring its operations and will transition away from its role as a Community Action Partnership (CAP) agency.
While our structure is changing, our commitment to our communities is not.
Effective October 1, 2026, selected WestCOP community centers will transition to a new brand but will continue providing essential supportive services, including food distribution and community services. This transition represents an opportunity to build a more focused, sustainable organization while continuing the work that matters most. Our communities, partnerships, and the people we serve remain at the heart of everything we do.
After more than 60 years, our mission remains our compass. The way we carry it forward may evolve, but our commitment to making a meaningful difference in people's lives continues.
SSVF Program
SSVF Program Transition
After 15 years of serving Veterans and their families through the Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program, WestCOP's SSVF program will conclude at the end of FY2026.
We are proud of the difference we have made in improving housing stability and changing lives throughout the Hudson Valley. Over the past 15 years, our work has helped shape the regional landscape of Veteran services through collaboration, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to those who served our country.
While WestCOP's role in SSVF is coming to a close, services will continue through our longtime partners, Services for the Underserved (SUS) and Soldier On, who will carry this important work forward.
We are deeply grateful to the Veterans, families, partners, and community organizations who have been part of this 15-year journey. The legacy of this work will continue through those dedicated to ensuring Veterans and their families receive the support, compassion, and stability they deserve.
